Sarah T. McCain

Sarah McCain is a senior associate with The Family Law Advocates, P.A, solely practicing family law. She is licensed to practice in both Florida and Colorado and has represented hundreds of divorce and child custody clients over the last 14 years. In addition to diligently representing clients, Sarah also serves as the client liaison for the firm and is available to discuss questions or concerns clients may have regarding any facet of their representation.

Now well into her second decade of practice, Ms. McCain zealously advocates for her clients dealing with simple and complex aspects of divorce, child custody, child support, time sharing, protection orders, grandparent visitation, post-judgment modifications, and many other family law matters. As a result of her years of practicing family law, Sarah has developed impeccable skills when it comes to dealing with complex marital estates and other financial issues, such as alimony (spousal support). She loves a challenge in and out of the courtroom and prides herself on obtaining results for her clients. As a skilled trial attorney and negotiator, Sarah’s only goal is the best possible outcome for every person she represents.

Sarah has spent the entirety of her highly experienced legal career practicing family law. Seeking to expand her practice base and a change of scenery, she’s transitioned to practicing in the Tampa Bay area, after years of serving as a senior associate attorney in Colorado. Sarah thrives on getting her clients the judgments and orders they deserve. She feels that attorney-client communication is paramount in achieving the client’s objectives. Likewise, she believes in thorough preparation for each and every court hearing for the benefit of her clients. Moreover, Sarah understands the benefits that flow to the clients from having a good rapport with the family law courts in the community. Ms. McCain has made Florida her home since 2021. While she is new to the state, she has years of valuable family law experience behind her. Sarah started her legal career in Colorado, in 2007, as an associate attorney for our Colorado, sister firm, Plog & Stein, P.C. Upon passing the Colorado bar in 2007, she immediately began helping people as a family law attorney. Now in her second decade of practice, she has proven to be an invaluable asset to her clients.

Sarah McCain was born and raised in Battle Creek, Michigan. She attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate and law degrees, obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the Broad College of Business and her Juris Doctorate Degree from the University’s College of Law. She also received valuable legal training while in law school. During law school, she worked at Legal Services of South Central Michigan, focusing on domestic violence cases, and at the Eaton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Before delving into practice in both Florida and Colorado, Sarah was determined to work as an attorney in Michigan. She passed the Michigan bar exam in 2006. However, shortly after her first visit to the Rocky Mountain State, she decided that it was time for a change in her legal setting. Merely a few weeks after returning to Michigan, Sarah packed up all of her belongings and headed out for Colorado, where she worked as a paralegal until passing the Colorado bar exam, in 2007. Sarah has also passed the Michigan and Florida bar exams and is one of three Family Law Advocates attorneys licensed in multiple states.

Sarah enjoys helping her clients on the weekdays and spending time with her family on the weekends. In her spare time, she enjoys kid activities, anything beach related, and exploring Florida. She also loves watching Big Ten football and basketball (and cheering for her Michigan State Spartans). She’s also committed to embracing the Buccaneers, though it may take her a while.
